Philip Eames is Professor of Renewable Energy and Director of the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST). His research focuses on various aspects of renewable energy systems, energy in buildings and thermal energy storage.
Building Envelope Energy Systems.
The building envelope is a key factor in determining the energy performance of a building with windows playing a key role. An overview of different advanced glazing systems is presented followed by a detailed description of the development and laboratory production of a low temperature sealed vacuum glazing. Different designs for glazing systems including photovoltaic concentrator elements are presented with predicted and measured performance data. The initial design and production of a new prototype flat plate vacuum solar collector for building envelope applications is also described.
